Criminal complaint formulated by the legal representative of Mrs. Norma Mercedes Espinel Aráuz, mother and indirect victim of Mr. Jorge David Glas Espinel, former vice president of the Republic of Ecuador.
On April 26, 2024, Mrs. Norma Mercedes Espinel Aráuz, who is the mother of Mr. Jorge David Glas Espinel, granted the firm’s lawyers general power of attorney. The above, to represent her interests in Mexico.
In the context of the events occurred on April 5, 2024, at the premises of the Mexican Embassy in Ecuador, when armed security forces personnel violently and illegally broke into the diplomatic premises and kidnapped her son, Mr. Jorge David Glas Espinel, as well as the events that transpired in subsequent days, the indirect victim filed a criminal complaint with her legal representatives, before the legal attaché accredited to the Embassy of Mexico in the Kingdom of Spain, directed to the attention of the Attorney General of the Republic.
In the criminal notice, the facts possibly constituting criminal conduct attributed to the indicted: Daniel Roy Gilchrist Noboa Azín, Constitutional President of the Republic of Ecuador, Mónica Rosa Irene Palencia Núñez, Minister of Government of the Republic of Ecuador, Rita Anabel Bravo Quijano, National Judge of the National Court of Justice of Ecuador, César Zapata Correa, General Commander of the National Police of Ecuador and Jaime Vela Erazo, Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Ecuador, are expressly circumstantiated.
All the facts attributed to the indicted, and brought to the attention of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic, are evidentially supported by the means of conviction presented for that purpose.
