Juan Manuel Torres Salgado has been a criminal litigator for more than two decades, focusing on matters such as white-collar crime, organized crime, and financial crimes, among others, in Mexico, the United States, and other jurisdictions around the world.

A tenacious planner and executor of legal strategies with depth and sophistication, Mr. Torres Salgado’s ultimate goal throughout his extensive career has been the definitive resolution of legal contingencies, addressing both legal and other considerations simultaneously, with a view toward creating opportunities and solutions that did not exist prior to his involvement. This approach has earned him the respect of the legal community and established him as a constant, yet discreet, presence in the Mexican legal landscape.

On the pro bono front, Mr. Torres Salgado founded Fundación Olmedo y Torres, A.C., dedicated to public-interest legal work. Among its notable achievements is securing an urgent action with general effects before the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances, through which the Mexican State was ordered to reactivate the National Center for Human Identification. The foundation also represented seven Mexican federal criminal district judges in a case widely regarded as a test of judicial independence, after their rulings drew public criticism from senior federal government officials.
